Hey! I think XTB is okay-ish broker overall. But they always focused on CFDs which is extremely speculative instrument so for me it's a bit of a red flag. When there is better options available, I am not sure what're the reasons to pick them.

@dpashutskii to be honest, in terms of fees for ETFs in euros, I would say it's a very good broker. I do not invest in cfds, only looking for ETFs, and I found this a better option compared to Degiro for instance. I can be missing something ofc, and that's why I question you about this broker 😁

Hello, To be completely honest, I don't think I fully understand the questions and your situation. What do you mean by "I have a company?" Is it your employer, or are you the owner of the company? I'm not sure I see the meaning of the questions in both cases. 1. If it's an employer, you don't need to do anything; they are the ones who apply for HSM. 2. If you're the owner, why would you consider HSM in the first place? Still, try to answer a few: - Knowing Dutch doesn't affect your visa at all. The only one who can ask for Dutch is your employer. - You need to discuss the timeline with the new and old employers. The Dutch government (IND) doesn't care about your timelines. - You cannot move your parents with a Highly Skilled visa unless you have some specific cases (ind.nl/en/forms/3085.pdf). It can be possible if you get Dutch citezenship.

For me or in general? There is no guarantee results for any investments so the only way to guess based on historical performance. Historical returns for VWCE for example are 8.85% annual. I repeat, it does not guarantee those returns in the future. There is no payouts as well. It's stock ownership.

I never really knew or realised there are other lifestyles that existed much before software engineering boomed with remote work and pushed popularity of nomadic lifestyle.

My ideal annual travel schedule right now, would be something like: - 10 months in country A where I have primary tax residence (sub-10% total tax burden, e.g. Georgia) - 2 months in one or two countries I want to check out and consider moving to in the future. Right now I'm liking Georgia, but I will also be considering Malaysia or the UAE. I am more of a "serial digital hermit" than a "digital nomad". I like to find one nice place and stay there most of the year for up to several years. I would like to buy an apartment IF I can find a place I see myself staying in forever. But since I am trying to save on taxes, it's not an easy task. My favorite country is really Japan, but their taxes suck and their visas are not super-easy to get, so that's a problem. I don't like traveling all the time, because I have to deprive myself of things like: - comfy desk setup - my piano, music equipment, etc. - sometimes I end up in apartments with crap soundproofing, which is a neverending annoyance I think if I could bring 100-150 kg of stuff everywhere, then I could be a nomad forever, no problem. I'm getting sick of having to gradually acquire basic stuff every time I move to a new country. The world is not really well-suited for digital nomads. How come it's almost impossible to find suitable apartments with an electric desk and office chair? It all sucks. The best approach would be to buy apartments all over the world and then furnish them yourself, inspired by Nomad Capitalist, but this would cost a good chunk of your net worth, and you may regret having to pay for maintaining your apartments everywhere -- unless you're truly rich and don't mind paying. I am tempted to buy in Batumi, but it's hard to justify purchasing an apartment compared to investing the same money in a maintenance-free diversified portfolio.

That's awesome. Thanks for sharing such details. I actually like the Netherlands in terms of taxes. They are huge if you're earning a lot, for sure. But the taxes are relatively low if you're a business owner and you don't pay yourself a lot. But not like Georgia, of course :) Totally agree on the stuff. Comfortable chairs and a table are the first things we bought after moving here. I totally understand the pain of acquiring stuff in new countries. I was also thinking about buying 2 to 3 properties worldwide and renting them out throughout the year unless I am there. But that needs serious planning and a bit more cash. Not to mention, I tons of time managing the rental. Haha, we also thought about buying in Georgia at some point. Make sure you know all the downsides. A few of our friends bought a place in Tbilisi for rent, and they regreded it because of some legal issues and maintenance nightmare (couldn't find a good workers)

That's two different things: starting a family and settling down, and starting a saas business. If you didn't mention a family, I'd recommend completely different options xD I actually think the Netherlands has a very nice startup climate. For the lower earnings there are almost 0 taxes here as well. When your SaaS will start earning a lot, you can figure out where to move the business or how to appropriately incorporate it. If your goal is not 100% startup, I'd recommend asking yourself where you and your family want to live and not where the taxes is lower.

Good question. 401k does not make that much sense when the country has a proper government pension funds so it's certainly less popular than in the US or Canada. But we do have private pension funds. Especially with current gov pension situation (it doesn't really keep up with the inflation and housing crisis) it's getting more and more popular Most of the employers will automatically open it for you but you can manage where the money is invested. Sometimes they also do the matching. My employer did 50%. As self-employed you may decide to open it yourself if you want to. There are certain companies that focuses on entrepreneurs and employed. I haven't researched it properly yet. The biggest benefits of them is, like 401k, they are tax deductible. Otherwise investing would have make much more sense.

Next to Duolingo, I followed Michel Thomas' Dutch audio course to work on my sounds and pronunciation. Thanks largely to that, I now speak without any noticeable foreign accent. Working with Dutch-speaking colleagues helped achieve the much-needed fluency, the familiarity with colloquialisms and idioms, and the ability to think in the language. Being a language nerd has helped me enormously along the way.

Where did you get €3000 from this video? €3000 a month is a very expensive rent. There are many people who can afford it but it's still very expensive.

Ah, you're talking about hotel. It was only for the first month. You won't find any hotels or Airbnb cheaper than that. It's "affordable" compared to other options for €4-5k. So you have to bite the bullet and find a permanent place as quick as possible. If you're Dutch, you know the hotel/Airbnb market and regulations, so why do you surprised? ;)

Good review; I have a pretty similar experience and conclusion. Yeah, even the forums, where you can post questions about specific Duolingo sentences, are gone.

I know, I talked about it on the video. It doesn't contain any explanation for Dutch and many other languages. It has explanations for Spanish or English for example.
